Playing "Stars and Stripes 'n the Eagles Fly"
by Aaron Tipton

OUR PRAYER
God, hold our troops in your loving hands.
Protect them as they protect us.
Bless them and their families
For the selfless acts they perform for us
In our time of need.
In Jesus name we pray during this time of war.

Of all the gifts you can give to a US soldier,
prayer is the best one. Lets all pray today for
those who are protecting us and our country!

The Vietnam crisis in 1965 prompted me to write the following poem that was later published and was the winner of a few treasured poetry awards.
Fortunately, my son never had to endure the horrors of military involvement.
Unfortunately, however, my beloved son died in 1989 as the result of a gunshot from an “unloaded” gun.
I dedicate this poem to all mothers of sons and I pray that no mother shall ever know the excruciating pain caused by the death of
a child.

PLEASE STOP THESE WARS!
I have a son. He’s only five; but he’s so much fun.
He spills things and messes up so.
But, no matter what he does, I’ll love him, I know.
He’s so little and softy, so cuddly and sweet.
He tears his clothes and gets mud on his feet.
He cries sometimes and balks at going to bed.
And, as some neighbors say, “he’s a pain in the head”.
He’s terribly smart, and I know that he’ll be
a doctor, a preacher, or a lawyer---you’ll see!
But, if when he is just barely grown
and needs the warmth and the love of home
They call him away to foreign land
To walk through the mud and crawl through the sand,
I’ll cry “It’s unfair to send my son!”
As will all other mothers who have one.
Oh, what can we do, what can we do.
Tell me, please tell me, I beg of you!
Someone must stop these terrible wars.
Boys who live through them are left with such scars
If not upon their bodies, upon their minds.
Which do you think are the worse kinds.
Let’s all get together and pray for peace.
So these horrible wars will have to cease.

I GOT YOUR BACK
I am a small and precious child, my dads been sent to fight…
The only place I’ll see his face, is in my dreams at night.
He will be gone too many days for my young mind to keep track.
I may be sad, but I am proud…My daddy’s got your back…
I am a caring mother. My son has gone to war.
My mind is filled with worries that I have never known before.
Every day I try to keep my thoughts from turning black.
I may be scared, but I am proud…..My son has got your back.
I am a strong and loving wife, with a husband soon to go.
There are times I’m terrified in a way most never know.
I bit my lit, and force a smile as I watch my husband pack…
My heart may break, but I am proud...My husband’s got your back.
I am a soldier…Serving proudly, standing tall.
I fight for freedom, your and mine by answering this call.
I do my job while knowing, the thanks it sometimes lacks.
Say a prayer that I’ll come home…It’s me whose got your back.

A BATTLE PRAYER FOR SOLDIERS
Should fate find you on the battlefield;
May your cause be a just one.
May your courage not falter.
May you show mercy to your enemies.
May your efforts bring the blessings of peace.
May you be triumphant and earn victory.
May your sacrifice be always appreciated.
May you endure the conflict unharmed.
Should you be harmed,
May your wounds heal.
Should you perish in the struggle,
May God embrace you and find a
Place for you in His Kingdom.
This was written on 3/9/03 by a Marine and his buddies stationed in Kuwait.
They had been listening to news on the radio and heard about anti-war protests going on.
They were very upset. He and his buddies wrote the poem.
Pray that those boys don't go into combat thinking nobody was behind them.

Wish You Were Here
For all the free people that still protest.
You're welcome. We protect you
and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong and loud
but who will fight for you?
No one standing in your crowd.
We are your fathers, brothers and sons
wearing the boots and carrying guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own
to make sure your future is carved in stone.
We are the ones who fight and die.
We may not be able to save the world
Well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and we want no choice other than that.
So when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly,
wars must be fought and young men must die.
We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we would rather stay here.
So please stop yelling, put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.
When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful that we chose to go through hell.
The Soldier
It is the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the soldier, who salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag.
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
OUR TROOPS ARE SLEEPING LIKE THIS
SO WE CAN SLEEP LIKE THIS
GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS! GOD BLESS AMERICA!
To everybody back home,
Back home now I know you're prob'ly sleeping,
But over here it's the middle of the day.
I finally found some time to write a letter,
Sittin' here a half a world away.
I heard about all them folks protesting,
As if I really want this war.
But that don't stop me from believing
There're just some things worth fighting for.
And if I die before you wake,
I pray the world will take
A good look at what God's given us.
If we could only understand
Everything is in His hands.
All we need is a little faith and trust.
I want you to know it ain't too high a price to pay
If I die before you wake.
Tell everybody that I miss them,
and I can't wait to get back home.
Until then, I'll serve my country
and be proud to wear this uniform.
And if I die before you wake,
I pray the world will take
A good look at what God's given us.
If we could only understand
Everything is in His hands.
All we need is a little faith and trust.
I want you to know it ain't too high a price to pay
If I die before you wake.
No, it ain't too high a price to pay
if I die before you wake.
Everything is in His hands
